Room Closed

The prayer room is now closed!

Many thanks to all who made it happen, and everyone who came along. It was a wonderful pleasure to seek God together. Most importantly we thank God for being there and being His faithful self in meeting with His people.

Prayer for the city

This Friday, Christians from across Aberdeen will draw together during the day to prayer for this city.  Why?  Well, because we believe that this city belongs to God and we believe that is in need of God's light, hope and peace.  Over recent months and years as we have engaged in prayer for Aberdeen it has been incredible to see God's Spirit moving and working in our communities, schools and streets.

During this last week we have asked for and received prayer requests(email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) from all over the city, and these will help lead us as we meet together.  During the day different aspects of city life will be focused on eg the City Council, our health services and our police force.  Whether you are able to come to the prayer-room or not, this is something you can join in with.  See the attached flyer for more details.

Then at 7.30pm there will be a corporate worship event, which will include an opportunity to explore the prayer room, to walk the city and to celebrate communion together.  It will also be a time of sharing what God has laid on your heart for your city.

We are looking forward to a fantastic day of calling to our God for the place in which we live.  And as we do, we remember that words of Jeremiah 29 5 "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not decrease. 7 Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper."  Jeremiah 29

Or the words of Chris Tomlin:

You're the God of this City,
You're the King of these people,
You're the Lord of this nation.

You're the Light in this darkness
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless

May God be praised for all the blessings he pours out on Aberdeen.

Prayer for the city1

On Friday 29th May, during the 24-7 prayer fortnight, there will be an opportunity to focus on prayer for Aberdeen. Our hope is that people will come to visit the prayer room during that time and also that groups and individuals will take time out where they are to pray for the city. There will be a corporate worship event at 7.30pm to draw us together.

To make this happen, we are in need of your help!
Firstly, it would be great if you could tell as many people as possible about the 24-7 event and the prayer for the city day (download flyers). The more people that we can encourage to join in in seeking God, meeting God, worshipping God, listening to God and responding to God, the better. Please think about the networks that you have and use them to make sure that across the city, churches and Christian groups know that this is happening.

Secondly, in order to think about specific areas of the life of the city we would like to gather prayer points from the people of the city. Please have a think about the people you know and whether they would be willing to provide us with specific prayer points relating to the areas listed in the flyer. For example, you may have a number of teachers in your congregation. What would they like us to pray for in relation to the schools of Aberdeen?

We will be sending out specific emails to people in these areas to seek information, but again, the more we have the better. Once you have gathered the prayer points together, send them back to Stella Campbell at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . It will form part of the presentation in the prayer room which will help lead people in the prayers. We will also send out a leaflet with condensed prayer points to help encourage prayer outside the prayer room.

It is amazing when we can join together in prayer for the place in which we live, work, rest and play. We look forward to hearing from you and praying with you in the days ahead.

Yours in Christ,

Graham Black, Hugh Wallace, Stella Campbell
